2016 Brooklyn my friends and I had an idea to spread Tango doing what we loved: we would book a band ourselves, bring a table to make tacos, serve tacos with Tango on them, sell bottles in the back. First show was Khruangbin's debut concert in NYC, at Rough Trade records in Williamsburg, and Tango Presents was born. A few shows later Yussef Kamaal played the series, before becoming one of the defining acts in modern UK jazz. We put almost a show a week together for over a year, 50+ paid shows, and every one was amazing. An unforgettable chapter in Tango history, the spirit of which lives on through Tangofest.
